Washinton, D.C. Trivia

The city of Washington was not always synonymous with DC.  Washington was only a small area within DC at first. Towns such as Georgetown and Alexandria continued to exist after DC's founding. Eventually, DC completely urbanized and is now contiguous with the City of Washington.
